EFT Tapping for Money Blocks: How It Actually Works

Jul 07, 2026

The first time someone showed me tapping, I thought it looked a little...ridiculous.

A grown woman gently thumping the side of her hand and talking to herself about her feelings. I stood there thinking, this is what people are paying for now? I was polite about it. Inside I was writing it off completely.

Then I tried it properly, mostly out of curiosity. And, well. Here we are, with me now a certified practitioner,  writing you a whole blog post about it. So let me tell you what changed my mind, and what tapping actually does, because there's far more logic to it than it looks.

If you've landed here, you've probably got a money thing going on. Maybe you undercharge and can't seem to stop yourself. Maybe the thought of your bank balance makes your chest go tight. Maybe money comes in and then something always whisks it straight back out again. And you've heard tapping helps with this, and you're not sure whether it's a real tool or just another thing the internet is trying to sell you.

Fair question. So let's get into it...

What tapping actually is

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique, which is a very grand name for something quite simple. You tap lightly with your fingertips on a handful of points on your face and upper body, the same sort of points used in acupressure, while you say out loud how you actually feel about the thing that's bothering you.

That's the part people find strange. You're not tapping in a nice affirmation. You start by saying the true, unflattering thing. "Even though I feel sick every time I raise my prices, I'm okay." You name the problem out loud while your body gets a steady, calming signal through the tapping. Odd little combination. It works better than it has any right to.

Why it helps with money, specifically

Here's the bit that made it click for me.

Money isn't a spreadsheet problem for most women. It's an emotional one. When you think about charging more, or look at what you owe, or picture actually asking for the sale, your body reacts. Heart rate ticks up. That old alarm goes off, the same one that's been firing since you first learned money wasn't safe. And when you're in that little flush of fear, you can't think straight, and you definitely can't rewire anything. You just want the feeling to stop. So you drop your price, or close the banking app, and the whole pattern rolls on for another day.

What the tapping does is turn that alarm down. The gentle, rhythmic tapping seems to tell your nervous system you're safe, even while you're saying the scary thing out loud. So the charge comes off it. The money thought that used to spike you starts to feel more neutral. And a money belief you can actually sit with calmly is a money belief you can finally start to change.

It's not tapping the debt away, mind. Let's be clear, no amount of thumping your collarbone is going to pay an invoice. What it does is take the panic out of the money, so you're not making every financial decision from a fight-or-flight place. And honestly, for a lot of women, that alone shifts things. (If you're not even sure money's your main block, I'll point you to a quick way to check in a second. Try this first.)

A simple money round you can do right now

Go on, have a go while you're here. Nobody's watching. And yes, it looks a bit bonkers. Do it anyway.

Start by tapping the side of your hand, the soft karate-chop part, and say this three times, out loud if you can manage it: "Even though money feels stressful and unsafe to me right now, I'm allowed to feel this way, and I'm okay."

Then tap gently, maybe seven times, on each of these spots as you move down, saying one short honest phrase at each. Start at the inner eyebrow: "All this money stress." Side of the eye: "It's exhausting." Under the eye: "I'm so tired of worrying about money." Under your nose: "Part of me thinks it'll never feel safe." On your chin: "All this fear in my body." Collarbone, just below those knobbly bits: "I'm carrying so much around this." Under your arm, about bra-line height: "It's okay that it's here." And finally the top of your head: "I'm ready to let a little of this go."

Do that a couple of times through. Then stop, breathe, and notice. Most people feel a small drop. A bit more room in the chest. A slight loosening. That loosening is the charge coming off, and that's the whole point of it.

You can do a round like this any time money spikes you. Before you send a quote. After you've looked at the numbers. When that tight feeling shows up out of nowhere. It's a genuinely handy little tool to keep in your back pocket.

Where tapping ends and the deeper work begins

Now I want to be straight with you, because I'd much rather you trust me than let me oversell you.

Tapping is wonderful at taking the edge off. It calms the feeling. But the feeling is coming from a belief, and that belief got installed a long time ago, sat right down at the root of things. Tapping soothes the surface beautifully. To actually change the belief underneath, to swap out "money isn't safe for me" for something new that holds, you have to get down to where that belief lives and reprogram it. That's the deeper work, and it's where hypnosis comes in, because it takes you straight to the level the belief was written on in the first place.

They go together beautifully, honestly. Tap to calm the storm. Reprogram to change the weather.

Find out what you're really tapping on

Which brings me to the quickest way to know what you're actually dealing with.

I made a free quiz called the Subconscious Blocks Quiz. Eight questions, three-ish minutes. It tells you which of the four blocks is running the show for you. The Wealth Wound, the Visibility Veil, the Worthiness Wall, or the Safety Ceiling. And then it hands you a free hypnosis session made for your particular block, so you can start clearing it properly rather than just soothing it. If money's your thing, that one's called Receive.

No cost, no catch. Do your tapping to settle the feeling, and let the hypnosis go after the root.

You've been carrying this money stuff around a long time. You don't have to keep white-knuckling it. Come and find out what's actually underneath it.
