What Is EFT Tapping?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It’s a simple, evidence-based practice that involves tapping on specific points on your body while focusing on a particular emotion, thought, or belief.

Think of it as acupuncture without the needles. You use your fingers to gently tap on energy meridian points (the same ones used in traditional Chinese medicine) to help release stuck emotions and shift energetic patterns.

EFT combines the power of somatic movement with the healing of conscious language. The result is deep emotional clearing and fast energetic alignment.

How Does EFT Work?

EFT works by calming the amygdala, the part of your brain responsible for the fight-or-flight response. When you feel fear, stress, or anxiety, your body goes into protection mode. This can block your ability to manifest, make decisions, or feel safe receiving what you want.

When you tap, you send a calming signal to your nervous system that says, “I’m safe. I can let this go.” This allows you to process emotions, shift limiting beliefs, and rewire the subconscious mind.

  2. Rate its intensity from 0 to 10

  3. Tap through the points while expressing how you feel

Common EFT Tapping Points

Here are the most common tapping points, in order:

  1. Side of the hand (karate chop point)

  2. Top of the head

  3. Eyebrow

  4. Side of the eye

  5. Under the eye

  6. Under the nose

  7. Chin

  8. Collarbone

  9. Under the arm

You’ll gently tap each point 5 to 7 times while saying phrases out loud that match your emotional state.

Start with the negative to clear it, then shift into the positive to rewire your belief system.

Example: Tapping on Fear of Success

Karate chop point:
“Even though I’m scared of what success might bring, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

Tapping points:
Top of head: “I’m afraid of what might change”
Eyebrow: “Success feels scary and overwhelming”
Side of eye: “What if people judge me?”
Under eye: “What if I can’t handle it?”
Under nose: “I feel safer staying small”
Chin: “But I know I’m meant for more”
Collarbone: “I choose to feel safe in expansion”
Under arm: “I allow myself to rise with ease”

This is just one example, but you can adapt the structure to fit anything you're working through.

How to Start an EFT Practice

Here’s how to bring tapping into your manifestation routine:

  • Choose one area of resistance or emotional charge

  • Rate the intensity from 0 to 10

  • Set aside 5 to 10 minutes to tap through the full sequence

  • Speak honestly about how you feel, then shift into empowerment

  • Repeat as often as needed — daily, weekly, or whenever emotions rise
